Cam Newton Comments on Viral Fight Video

On Feb. 25, footage of the fight went viral on social media. Three men allegedly attempted

to jump the former NFL MVP. Newton, who took on several attackers, kept his hat on the entire time. Following the incident, Atlanta law enforcement officials stated that everyone involved declined to file charges, WANF-TV reported.

Appearing on the latest episode of the “4th & 1” podcast, Newton expressed disappointment in his actions during the viral incident.

"I don't want to point the finger and say this person said this and that person said that. It's all in the the nature of sports," Newton explained. "Am I saying this is the first time it happened or the last time it will happen? It's just something that—it starts with words, and it should have ended with words. That's it. And I'm disappointed in myself by letting it escalate to what it did. And that's why I'm apologetic.’

"I've seen clips on clips on clips. I've seen the content that they've put out, or whatever. The truth of the matter is this: Me being in my position, I should've never put myself in that position,” Newton continued. “Because even then, it's like that s--t could've got ugly. Like, for real. It could've. And that's why I'm trying to bring the seriousness to the situation."

"I'm walking up a flight of steps, and I see a 6 '6" guy grabbing my brother, that's what everybody's seeing," Brown said.

Drafted first overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, Newton played the first nine seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers. He led them to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016 and was named the NFL MVP the same year. He joined the Patriots for one season in 2020 and briefly returned to Carolina in 2021.

Through his organization C1N, Newton has sponsored a youth 7v7 football organization since 2011, marking the year he was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.
